Our Categories & Tags feature works differently for different apps, depending on where the content for that app has been synced from.
Kajabi, VHX, JWPlayer, CustomAPI
These platforms don't offer any sort of filtering/tagging feature, so all categories and tags in your app will need to be created and customized within the VidApp Builder.
For the correct results to appear, the Tags in the VidApp Builder should exactly match the tags each video and collection is associated with.
Vimeo OTT
For Vimeo OTT, the tags/metadata is required to be set up in Vimeo OTT first, and then set up in VidApp. It's important to make sure the tags match exactly and are case-sensitive. Here's how to set this up:
- Add tags/metadata to your videos in Vimeo OTT, as per the instructions here
- Log into the VidApp Builder
- Create your tags as per the instructions here. Make sure that the tags match exactly to what you entered in Vimeo OTT (i.e. 'Level 1' <> 'Level 1' not 'level 1') and then Save. Your changes will appear in the app after 1 hour
Uscreen and Wordpress
For these platforms, we sync categories and tags into the VidApp Builder (Uscreen calls these 'filters' and 'filter options' and WordPress calls them 'taxonomies').
Because your categories and tags have been created on these platforms, most updates need to be actioned from your Uscreen or Wordpress account. So for example, for Uscreen, if you need to update a name of a filter, or re-order the filter options within a filter, then this will need to be done within Uscreen.
Therefore, in VidApp, the Categories & Tags screen will only show a read-only view of your categories and tags. However, there are some 'VidApp only' actions you can take to customize the in-app Filter feature, such as enabling/disabling a category or re-ordering categories.
