Thank you for connecting your Stripe account with VidApp. To ensure a seamless integration and optimal performance, there are still a few steps you need to complete.
For all subscriptions purchased via the Web App, Stripe acts as your dedicated billing engine. Think of Stripe as the "wallet" of your platform—it manages your customers, products, prices, and subscriptions.
Because Stripe is the single source of truth for a user's payment status, specific financial administrative tasks must be performed directly within your Stripe Dashboard rather than the VidApp Builder.
Below are the key tasks you can safely manage in Stripe, along with an important warning regarding unsupported features.
Issuing Refunds
If a user requests a refund for a web payment, this must be processed in Stripe. Our Support Team will handle this for you.
Cancelling a Member's Subscription
Ideally, members should cancel their own subscriptions via the Web App settings. However, if a member is unable to do so, you can manually cancel it on their behalf.
Handling failed payments
We have seen a potential edge case where a member attempts to reactivate their subscription by paying an invoice after it has been canceled due to multiple failed payment attempts. To ensure seamless handling of this scenario, please adjust your Stripe settings by following these steps:\
- Log in to your Stripe account.
- Navigate to the Billing settings page.
- Locate the "Manage Failed Payments" section.
- Please confirm that the "Mark the subscription as unpaid" option is selected. (See attached screenshot for visual reference.)
- Save your changes.
Once the above change is done, please send a confirmation to onboarding@vidapp.com.
Important: Unsupported Stripe Features
While Stripe is a powerful tool with many settings, not all Stripe features are compatible with the VidApp system.
The VidApp database relies on specific signals from Stripe to grant or revoke access. Modifying settings outside of the use cases listed above (Coupons, Refunds, Cancellations, and Failed Payment settings) may result in a broken user experience or complaints.
If you need to perform a task in Stripe that is not listed in this article, please reach out to the VidApp Support Team first. We will verify if it is safe to do so.
